Équacacao - Notre chocolat

L’histoire d'Equacacao

Description de la page

Mon parcours

The big surprise: the passion for chocolate in france

Equacacao - cacao Arriba d'Équateur - Savoir-faire - Chocolat de couverture - Amazonie

It was when I arrived in France for the first time in 2001, at Christmas, that I discovered the French passion for chocolate! I was very surprised, because in Ecuador cocoa is mostly consumed as a drink; the cocoa paste or "cocoa liquor" is diluted in hot water with chilli, cinnamon and/or nutmeg and a little brown sugar.

I understood then that in Europe chocolate was a tradition and a know-how... It is a serious business!

In France, the country of high gastronomy, where I live today, this gourmet product is elaborated with mastery! Pastry chefs and chocolate makers play with all the flavours and textures of chocolate... for our greatest pleasure... Whether it is dark, milk or praline, chocolate is invited on festive days, to be enjoyed at the great moments of life, weddings, births, birthdays, religious celebrations…

« La fève de cacao est un phénomène que la nature n’a jamais répété ;

Alexander Von Humboldt – naturaliste et géographe allemand (1769-1859)

The birth of equacacao

This is how I came up with the idea of Equacacao! I had the opportunity to combine my origins and my skills to offer you the best chocolates! I could become an ambassador between the Ecuadorian producers and the European consumers.

A passion and a guideline were born: to value all the actors of the cocoa circuit while respecting nature. It took me a few years to set up the project and work upstream in the chain. Among so many cocoa trees, I had to find the ideal bean, promote the producers, succeed in transforming it in Ecuador while meeting the criteria of use of professionals.

Equacacao is then a set of magnificent encounters with producers, master chocolate makers, friends, who, by combining their talents and know-how, have made it possible to produce an irreproachable quality of chocolate and to remain coherent with our philosophy.
